WindowsVista

```Still, it's hard to take a real look at Vista, both on the surface and under the hood, and consider it just another Windows rehash. This is a dramatic, whole-hog upgrade of the Windows platform. If you got anything out of this article, we hope it's the realization that Vista is not simply the Windows XP/2000 code base that has been slowly evolving over the years with some fancy graphics and icons slapped onto it. It should be clear that Vista is really the next generation of operating system from Microsoft, every bit as significant as the leap from Windows 3.1 to Windows 95 or the jump from Mac OS 9 to OS X.```
Ahh yes but does it have an atomic filesystem? No. They were going to use winfs, but the dumped it. Looks like we still gotta stick with ntfs. How significant of a leap is that?
p.s: reiser4 ftw
[link] has excellent reviews about WindowsVista. Don't knock Microsoft, they have made very few mistakes in recent years, as far as I can see.
I am very impressed.
The new file system, can handle Full Volume Encryption -- I mean, what is such the big whoop about WinFS anyway? What the heck is wrong with NTFS??
Read up on atomic filesystems. They don't really corrupt, that's what's the big whoop. Plus they are like 50% faster. Microsoft tried and failed.
I see. I had no idea, wellp, that sounds like a lot of good stuff.
What I find hilarious, is that NTFS stands for New Technology File System. Why would you name any piece of technology "new" ... engraved in the name? If you do that, you're just asking for trouble!
